Seafood traceability to ensure consumer confidence: IMPLEMENTATION
Major achievements in 2004
The SMEs being partners in the project have participated in discussions and a very successful workshop for selecting the most adequate RFID technology to be implemented. Several chains suitable for introduction of full traceability have been selected. These count chains for handling fish from both aquaculture and traditional fisheries, and furthermore a prawn chain has been chosen.
A very useful ‘tool’ has been developed to be used for analysing a chain. This tool has a generic nature and will be used not only in seafood chains, but also in other food chains.
