SEAFOODplus at European Seafood Exhibition

SEAFOODplus participated at the 12th European Seafood Exposition & Seafood Processing Europe in Brussels, 4-6 May 2004 with a stand in hall 9, stand no. 4229.

The stand was shared with other exhibitors under the umbrella of SIPPO (the Swiss import promotion programme), and neighboured to EUROFISH, the major dissemination partner in SEAFOODplus. The stand could be clearly identified by the SEAFOODplus logo on the wall and on flags. A folder about the project specially prepared for this event was distributed.

The SEAFOODplus coordinator, Prof. Torger Børresen, the coordinator of dissemination, Prof. Jörg Oehlenschläger and secretariat manager Jette Donovan Jensen were present during the three days of the exhibition to answer questions about the SEAFOODplus project and to introduce and explain the dimension and importance of the project to the visitors. Very positive remarks were expressed that the EU had sponsored such a big project for the seafood industry in Europe.

The organisers of the exposition had selected SEAFOODplus for presentation in the official daily exhibition newspaper on the opening day. This newspaper was distributed to all stands and visitors, and the two full-page articles ‘Research: The ambitious SEAFOODplus project’ and ‘Recherche: l’ambitieux projet SEAFOODplus’ provided a very good visibility of SEAFOODplus at the event.

The presentation of SEAFOODplus to the seafood business in Brussels has thus raised the awareness of many important players to the project. The SEAFOODplus stand was very well visited and many good contacts to interested parties were made. Particularly the contacts to SMEs were very valuable and can be used for further project development.
