November 13. 2002The workshop arranged by SEAFOODplus as one of the Particpants' Forum during the opening conference of the 6th Framework Programme in Brussels 11-13nd of November was a success.
The room reserved for the event was too small to hold all the people being interested, but regardless of space problems an engaged and enthusiastic audience contributed to make it a forum for good discussion. At the opening Liam Breslin from DG Research pointed out the importance of the seafood part of the work programme, and underlined important conditions to be taken into consideration for researchers interested in participating.
All speakers announced in the program delivered interesting overviews of their respective fields and proposed a set of research priorities that was discussed. Further, each of the panel members delivered short presentations of topics for discussion before the roundtable session.
The reporters, Joop Luten and Jörg Oehlenschläger, drafted the consensus statements that were delivered during the concluding part of the workshop. Torger Børresen introduced and moderated the workshop and roundtable discussion.
